Chris Clare

 

 

Chris joined the staff in June 2012 having first worked as a volunteer assessing the volume and potential of undermanaged broadleaf woodland in the Tamar Valley. Chris is now undertaking on-farm woodfuel assessments of wooded areas and hedgerows for assessing on-farm woodfuel resources and working on the Taw River Improvement Project (TRIP) as a woodland advisor. Chris has a forestry degree from Bangor University as well as a Foundation degree course in Computer Engineering and is the Trust’s GIS specialist.

Janet is our longest serving member of staff having joined the Trust in 1996 after working on the Silvanus Project and with Silvanus Services Ltd in the 1980s and early 1990s.  She undertakes the administrative and financial work in the Trust office, along with helping schools and community groups access funding for tree planting via the Our Trees project.

Alice Goodenough

 

 

Alice joined the Trust in April 2010, as the project researcher for the BIG lottery funded research project "Good from Woods".  With a first degree in Historical and Cultural Studies and a Masters in Landscape and Culture, Alice is particularly interested in how people understand and value natural and community spaces, such as woodland. These are themes she explored in her PhD thesis, undertaken at the Countryside and Community Research Institute, University of Gloucestershire.

Jane Hart

Jane joined the Trust in 2008 with a background in agricultural consultancy and managing training and small business advice projects.  She currently coordinates the Trust's role in the  Taw River Improvement Project, the Forestry Skills Initiative, leads on the evaluation of the Ward Forester project and assists with applications to the Rural Development Programme for England.  Previously for the Trust she has successfully run projects encouraging small woodland management and forestry-related training.   She holds a degree in Environmental Science and a Masters in Sustainable Environmental Management.

Victoria Hughes

Victoria is a graduate from the University of Plymouth, having achieved a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and an MSc in Environmental Consultancy.  She joined the Trust in December 2009 to take over the management and development of the SW Directory of Woodland Products and Services.  She also performs the role of training coordinator, organising training courses under the Skills scheme, manages the Devon FEI cluster group and helps out with other projects whenever extra hands are needed.

Jez joined the Trust in 2000 as a volunteer researcher after completing a Masters in Forest Management at Aberdeen University. After a degree in Archaeology and Geology Jez worked with the National Trust in Cumbria in the forestry and estate management teams before spending two and a half years in Antarctica as a polar mountain guide. Jez now works for the Woodland Renaissance Partnership advising businesses with investment proposals in  forestry, timber processing and timber users to increase the value, use and sustainable management of the Region's woodlands.

Sarah Vaughan

Sarah joined the Trust as Director in June 2006. With a degree in geography and postgraduate qualifications in engineering hydrology and river morphology Sarah brings to the Trust a diverse background ranging from environmental consultancy in the UK and overseas to a number of administrative and management roles in Higher Education.
