£37,500 RDPE funds for Brendon Hill Tree Services

Henry Fox of Brendon Hill Tree Services is now the proud owner of a Heizohack HM10-500 crane fed chipper thus adding another secure link in the South West's woodfue supply chain. Working with Michele Kerry of the Silvanus Trust, Brendon Hill submitted a successful application to the South West RDA to fund 50% of the chipper from the RDPE program.

The new chipper was delivered in March and is already making an invaluable contribution to services and products supplied by Henry and his team.  The chipper has trebled Brendon Hill's production capacity and has improved chip quality allowing the company to confidently move into the domestic/residential woodchip market in addition to supplying chip to other commercial operators.  Brendon Hill has already secured orders for new woodchip boiler installations and fully expects orders to increase with the recent launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive.

There are also benefits for the South West's woodlands.  In order to secure timber for the Heizohack HM10-500, Brendon Hill is now managing more woodland and buying more timber.  The company is also licensed to take phytophthora infected larch and will be using 1000 tons of infected timber in the coming year to convert to woodchip.  This need for more timber has resulted in Henry providing more work for forestry contractors.
